Through Internet, radio, TV, and community outreach, we will tell you about the choices you have to live your best quality of life.
Despite the growing influence of Hispanics across the country, network, cable, and radio stations still don’t include stories on our community, or more often than not, the stories that are reported are mostly stereotypical, centering on the immigration debate or Mexican drug wars. One year, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists found that out of almost 13,000 stories across the top three broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC), only 105 of them were exclusively about Hispanic people or issues, and almost all of them lacked a diversity of opinion.
Luz Elena Rivers, a Colombian-born woman business owner, radio and television host, and founder of Rivers for Health Foundation, a non-profit organization, is the Voice of Support for the Hispanic community, and she’s changing the conversation – she reports to Hispanics on the issues important to our community. Luz Elena is co-founder of Amera Solutions, a Medical Coordination + Transportation agency with headquarters in Houston, TX.
